Good question, imogen. Charles I had a good relationship with Laud. They agreed on the role of bishops in the Church of England, and on the use of the Book of Common Prayer as the sole form of liturgy-some Puritans would deviate from the BCP. Laud had the full support of Charles I in his efforts to stabilize the English church and regrettably, Charles I could not save him from Parliament.
